Associated Student Government Faculty Honor Roll

The Associated Student Government (ASG) collects nominations for the annual Faculty & Administrator Honor Roll from the Northwestern University undergraduate student body. In the past year, over 100 students provided thoughtful and complex portraits of faculty and staff who they believe made a powerful and exceptional impact on their Northwestern experience. ASG wishes to honor the faculty and staff whose dedication and care for students led to their inclusion on this list.

2021 - 22
Alvin Bernard Tillery, Jr
Prof. TIllery received his Ph.D. from Harvard University, is the Director of the Center for the Study of Diversity and Democracy, and has a joint appointment in the Department of African American Studies. He specializes in American politics, focusing on racial and ethnic politics, American political development, and social movements. He is nominated for his work in POLI_SCI 395: Black Political Thought.

Mary Dietz 

Prof. Dietz received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. She is the John Evans Emerita Professor of Political Theory and Gender & Sexuality Studies. Her research interests include the history of Western political thought, contemporary political theory, democratic theory, feminist theory, and interpretation of texts. Nominated for her work in POLI_SCI 464: Contemporary Political Thought, a student remarked that she encourages students to read, think, and discuss. She really makes students present the best image of themselves.”

Reuel Rogers

Prof. Rogers received his Ph.D. from Princeton University. His research and teaching focus on complex topics such as the intersection of race, ethnicity, immigration, place, political behavior, and urban politics. Rogers has written numerous publications and a book as well as held various distinguished fellowships. Nominated for his work in POLI_SCI 321: Urban Politics and POLI_SCI 327: African American Politics, one student wrote that Professor Rogers is “incredibly prepared, caring, and detail-oriented” and that they are “so grateful to have learned from him.”

John Bullock

Professor John Bullock received his PhD in Political Science from Stanford University and currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science. One student says Professor Bullock “is an excellent lecturer who holds the attention of the entire class, while teaching with both wisdom and knowledge” and “does an excellent job of instructing his class fairly and superbly.”  Professor Bullock is recognized for his work in POLI_SCI 335 “Political Psychology.”

Daniel Krcmaric

Professor Krcmaric received his PhD in Political Science from Duke University and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science. A says he incorporated current events and different forms of media into lecture, and encouraged discussion.” Professor Krcmaric is recognized for his work in POLI_SCI 344 “United States Foreign Policy.”

Wendy Pearlman

Professor Pearlman received her PhD in Government from Harvard University and currently serves as an Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Political Science. One student said “Dr. Pearlman masterfully filled her lectures with content in a way that I have not seen since.” Professor Pearlman is recognized for her work in POLIC_SCI 351-0 “Politics of the Middle East.”

Alvin Bernard Tillery, Jr

Professor Alvin Bernard Tillery Jr. received his PhD in Political Science from Harvard University and is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science. One student says Professsor Tillery “goes above and beyond to maintain relationships with his students and contribute to their intellectual growth from the first day of class until many years beyond.” Professor Tillery is recognized for his work in POLI_SCI 220 “American Government and Politics.”

John Bullock

Prof. John Bullock received his PhD in Political Science from stanford University, and is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science. Dr. Bullock was nominated by several students for his work in Political Science 390: Political Psychology.

Jordan Gans-Morse

Prof. Jordan Gans Morse received his PhD in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and is currently an Associate Professor in the Political Science Department. Nominated by many students, Dr. Gans-Morse is recognized for his in Political Science: 369 Politics of Post-Soviet Russia.

Thomas Ogorzalek

Prof. Thomas Ogorzalek received his PhD in Political Science from Columbia University and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science. According to one student, Dr. Ogorzalek teaches "in a vel)f clear, concise way" and "made the class accessible for me as a non-political science major but still encouraged me to work hard." Dr. Ogorzalek is recognized for his work in Political Science 220: American Government and Politics.

Jason Seawright

Prof. Jason Seawright received his PhD in Comparative Politics, Latin America, Methodology from the University of California, Berkeley and is currently Professor and Director of Graduate studies in the Political Science Department. A student praised him for being "incredibly insightful and knowledgeable." Another wrote that "Professor Seawright presents the material in this class in a really engaging and fascinating way." Dr. Seawright is recognized for his work in Political Science 106: Populism in America and Worldwide, 250: Introduction to Comparative Politics, and 210: Empirical Methods in Political Science.
